Moon Gang

Ubud, Bali

There is a narrow scooter lane off Jalan Raya Ubud where cars cannot go. Moon Gang is at the end of it — tucked away, intentionally hard to find, and completely unlike anything else in Ubud. The design takes its cues from long-lost Indonesian City Pop records of the 1970s, that hypnotic blend of rare groove and tropical heat, and channels it into four suites — each one its own soundtrack, its own mood. YSG Studio handled the interiors; the result is colour and energy deployed with genuine conviction, not decoration.

Beyond the suites: a pool club called Ambang, a lounge built around the Indonesian art of nongkrong — that particular pleasure of being somewhere with no sense of time — a rooftop terrace for stargazing and moon bathing, a Wellness Lab, and a sensory garden rooted in the Balinese principle of Tri Hita Karana. The Cosmos Kiosk stocks things you didn't know you needed. The Spotify playlist is worth finding before you arrive.
