Numeroventi

Located in the heart of Florence, Numeroventi is a peaceful retreat from the fast rhythm of modern-day life. The space is available for artists and makers but also for travelers that want to visit Florence from a different perspective.

Housed across three floors of Palazzo Galli Tassi, the studio apartments and working spaces are flooded in natural light. Each distinctive loft features original site-specific artworks and design furniture. The mix of private and co-working spaces means that each resident benefits from the atmosphere of concentration, as well as a natural and informal way to meet like-minded people and exchange ideas.

Slow mornings waking up next to waving curtains. Bike rides to the market. Cooking simple but wholesome dishes with friends in the communal kitchen. Late nights of pasta, wine, and meaningful conversations in great company. This is day-to-day life at Numeroventi.

The new lofts on the top-floor feature objects and furnishings by the many makers of Numeroventi’s past residencies, a testament to the exchange between contemporary creation and the Renaissance heritage of Florence, and to the stimulating power of a place to contemplate and conceive new works. The project reclaims a historical but previously dilapidated space, revealing in the process antique architecture and the walls’ centuries-old frescoes. “We scratched the paint off the walls and there was a blue drawing below the surface, each scratch revealed the story. Before our artists that have lived and worked here, there was a the syrup factory, a ministry of agriculture and a noble house. The walls tell the story of a city that taught the world how powerful art and artisanship is.” explains Martino di Napoli Rampolla, the creative mind behind the project.

With the collaboration of local craftspeople and artists, the palazzo’s new spaces substantially expand Numeroventi’s offerings as an artist residency, a unique hotel, and a gallery of international design and art talents. The versatile new suites include a holistic treatment room, a suite with an art studio and bedroom, a meeting room where you can comfortably work from “home”, and an exhibition space for pieces from the Numeroventi collectible and permanent collections.

Numeroventi also offers vouchers so you can gift yourself or a loved one with a life-changing creative experience.

Prior to the renovation, the top floor hosted more than 15 exhibitions of Numeroventi’s numerous artists-in-residence from around the world, including Korean ceramist Yoon Young Hur, UK-based photographers Rich Stapleton and Cary Fagan, as well as the South African digital rendering artist Alexis Christodoulou. The impressive space also hosted the English composer and performer Dev Hynes (Blood Orange), and French musician Lewis OfMan.
