Monte Uzulu

A project of Taller LU’UM, the quaint boutique hotel Monte Uzulu opened its doors to guests in 2019.

Nestled between the hills of the small fishing and surf town, San Agustinillo, Monte Uzulu was designed with the surrounding nature in mind. The structure itself utilizes hardwood detailing for both doors and furniture, cement walls stained with earthen pigments, a palapa palm roof, as well as water catchment, greywater and bio digestor systems. During construction, many of the trees in the thousand-year-old forest of the property were left standing, including several iconic Pochote trees.

Grana B&B

Inspired by millenary techniques and with a notable vocation to recover traditions, Grana is heritage, not only has a thriving cultural background but also counts with the work of local artisans and products, that are manufactured and grown traditionally in the place. A refuge in Oaxaca, that combines colonial tradition, art, and contemporary design. Everything revolves around a large central patio, a home for indigenous plants, and an antique magical fountain, in which the contemporary perspective of Oaxaca coexists with strong original architectural elements such as vaulted ceilings, ancient pillars, and walls that have been treated like real canvases, following the ancestral processes of painting and tiling.

Casa la Distancia

Casa la Distancia is nestled on the hill overlooking Playa Mermejita and Punta Cometa, the southernmost point in the state of Oaxaca. The home is also a short walk from Playa Rinconcito in Mazunte. While the house is just a short walk to these three beaches, once on the home’s expansive wooden deck, overlooking the tree canopy and the coastline, you truly feel alone in nature. In late July, butterflies abound, fluttering above the canopy. Dozens of different birds fly past each day, singing their respective songs, and the ocean waves are not far in the distance.
