Caserío de Aldeallana

Situated just 75 km outside of Madrid, Caserio de Aldeallana is the ideal weekend escape. After being on lockdown for more than four months this was our first mini-break. We were dreaming of a countryside getaway that was close to home yet felt like a whole different universe.

It was the ideal place to relax and unwind after some hectic months. Upon entering the charming house, one immediately feels a sense of calm, like home away from home. This may also have to do with the way Lucia (owner / hostess) takes you in as if you were an old friend. The family-owned hotel is in and of itself the destination, rather than just a stay.

The renovation of this 1800’s caserio was carried out by interior designer Isabel López-Quesada. The result is a contemporary take of rural architecture, where every detail counts. Each of the 5 rooms is laid out to be a unique experience for all your senses. Ours, for example, featured an outstanding bed frame recovered from the original house and an emblematic wallpaper.

At the house, you can enjoy a morning at the pool followed by relaxing lunch on the courtyard. Bring a book or borrow one from their library and spend a quiet afternoon in the cozy living room. When the nigh falls, grab a drink from the honesty bar before a candle-lit dinner under the stars. If this sounds too dreamy, it’s because it is.

The next morning, grab your hiking shoes and take a walk of their 5 km long routes surrounded with nothing but the endless Segovian yellow fields. At the reception, you can borrow a picnic basket during golden hour to watch the most beautiful sunset. Every season has a unique charm at Caserío de Aldeallana that we can’t wait to discover.
