Inside Marloes Hoedeman Jamaica Getaway

Marloes Hoedeman is a citizen of the world. Thanks to her lingerie brand, Love Stories, she’s constantly on the go. From design sourcing trips to campaign photoshoots, she was lucky enough to take a trip to Jamaica last summer, where she shot the Love Stories SS20 campaign. We sat down with her to find out her favorite spots in the island: untapped beaches and artistic hotels.

Why is it the perfect destination?

Jamaica! An island full of treasures.

Where to wake up?

Ocean cottage of The Jakes Hotel.

Authentic, arty and very colorful boutique hotel at Treasure Beach (South Coast).

How about breakfast? Your all time favorite restaurant for lunch?

Take a dip into the blue waters of the The Rockhouse Hotel. Then grab a coffee at their Blue Mountains coffee bar and enjoy their tasteful breakfast or join for brunch; the best way start your day.

Best untapped beach?

The beaches of the Golden Eye Hotel; empty beaches with the best view.

Best local food?

Try the fruit at the local markets; the mango and papaya are the best!

Where to find the best souvenirs?

While road tripping the island, you will bump into hidden shops with the beautiful local made souvenirs. During our rafting trip in Martha Brae Village, we met this friendly guy who had a small bamboo bar next to the the river, selling the best fresh coconuts.

Where do we go for dinner? Best place to take in the sunset?

Choose one of the cute restaurants the Golden Eye Hotel has to offer and enjoy the sunset on the beach or in the jungle tree house.

Something that surprised you?

Overwhelmed by the beauty of the island!

What to take home from Jamaica?

“Don't worry about a thing” vibe

Something only a local would know?

During our trip to Jamaica we visited many small villages. We met so many nice people, enjoyed stunning views and ate the best local food.

How were you inspired by this destination for Love Stories?

Jamaica was on my bucket list for so many years. Inspired by the icons of the island like Bob Marley.

Long time ago I read a story about Ian Fleming and I was curious to visit the location, where he wrote and shot some James Bond movies.

Jamaica’s  best kept secret?

The Pelican Bar of the Jakes Hotel; you will find it one mile of the coast, in the sea of Parottee bay. A little hut that serves drinks and snacks to people that arrive by boat.

Hôtel Weekend

Travel for yourself, not for others. Embrace a slower pace and get to know the heart of your destination. Walk barefoot and tilt your head up to the sun. Enjoy the journey itself; take a road trip, sit in the window of a train or on the deck of a boat. Seek out hidden gems and soak up the atmosphere. Set your out of office. Make memories you'll treasure.
