Postcards from Chile

Our guide: Colombian fashion photographer Andrea Swarz travels around the world making beautiful pictures. Born & raised in Cali, Colombia, Andrea has lived in Paris & Buenos Aires while studying art & photography. She travelled to Santiago, Chile in March for a commissioned photography work.

Where?  I visited two cities: Santiago de Chile & Valparaiso

Why? A business trip that felt like a vacation.

Who? I travelled with a magazine's team, the model, and her manager.

Stay: Hotel Magnolia in Santiago Huérfanos 539, Santiago de Chile, Santiago, Región Metropolitana, Chile.

The charming hotel used to be a mansion in the 1920's, and was recently renovated, keeping the facade as the original one. The service was amazing. With an avant-garde style, the rooms are big and comfortable, and the bathroom is beautiful. The hotel offers a library where you can work and have a coffee, an a rooftop where you can see the gorgeous city.

Favorite part? Wine tasting for sure! But I can also include:

- Cycling tour in the city with Guia: you can choose different themes to discover around.

-Skyline Costanere center: The best view of Santiago (see my photos below!)

-Zapallar beach: Ask Chileans where there best beach on the extensive Chilean coast is and they will undoubtedly name Zapallar. You can get here by freeway in under 2 hours, so you can visit as a day trip. You also get to see penguins here.

-Valparaiso: A beautiful bohemian town in the coast. I stayed in Palacio Astoreca. Worth a special mention is its restaurant, Alegre. Located in the historical center, the hotel is just a couple of steps away from cerro Alegre, Paseo Yugoslavo & Palacio Barburizza.

My travel journal:

Thank you Prochile for the unforgettable trip & Revista Carrusel - El Tiempo.
